I was responsible for creating these parachutes from scratch as well as building custom vignettes for the various places they would exist in the maps. After creating the base parachute mesh, I exported both the parachute and the level geometry into Marvelous Designer to simulate the cloth on top of the environment. After importing each parachute in as a custom asset, I then used splines in Unreal to place the ropes before merging them into static meshes, exporting them to Maya, and re-uving them as well as adding vert color. At the end, I built a custom material that used vertex color to make the ropes and parachute flutter and sway in the wind/water where it would make sense.
